I’m an insomniac, especially Friday nights after a long work week, so I stay up working late on my crafts, my window looks out onto the parking lot and to grandma’s window, I can tell when she starts turning her lights on and doing her thing. So one morning, maybe 4am (I hadn’t gone to sleep), I see her come out onto the balcony and stand in her nightgown against it. My attention already peaked, she looks like she’s living in a romance novel, so I can only imagine what she’s up to. She looks out longingly.
Then like clock work, here comes a man jogging, he looks to be in his early 50’s, fit good-looking gentleman on his morning run, …like a psycho, he has to be an athlete or something ’cause he’s out of his mind running at this time. He jogs passed grandma and I see her yell something at him, he looks up gives her a wave and keeps running.
My curiosity is peaked now, so I let it be, watch her for a little bit, she watches as he leaves and then goes back inside her apartment.
“What an odd bird.” I can’t help but laugh to myself, but she’s got me curious and I have to find out what it is she says to him.

The next day at 3:45am I get up out of bed and run down stairs when I see her come out onto her balcony, I need to know what’s going on, I can’t help it. So I watch,
here comes the runner,
and I hear grandma yell down to him “Quieres cafe!?” ‘want coffee?’,
then as he looks up and waves she adds, “si sigues corriendo vas a desaparecerte.” ‘If you keep running you’re going to disappear’ from how thin he’s getting.
This old woman. Is catcalling, this 50 year old man. I can’t believe it!
